The first thing to know is that the picture of this wine on the LCBO site is misleading. It’s actually darker than represented.
It’s made from 100% Garnacha and is better known in France as Grenache, where it’s also a key grape in the production of rosé.
Goru wines are always a decent buy for the money. It’s hard to go wrong if you’re wondering what to bring to a dinner.
It is darker than I generally like my rosés, but it still offers an enthusiastically pretty nose of wild strawberries.
The darker colour suggests extra skin contact and with that comes a little more tannic astringency along the lines of red currant or lingonberry. It’s by no means dominant, just a little more than I enjoy in this style of wine.
It has some herbaceous notes leading into a fruity rhubarb grip and is robust enough to stand up to Tapas. I would suggest a selection of Spanish cured meats and cheeses, such as salchichon and manchego.
